Fasting till I'm furious- Part 2

Here is part 2 of my blog about my weight loss adventure using the Fast 800 diet by Dr. Michael Mosley. If you haven't read part 1 I suggest you give that a peruse before reading this post. Hope you enjoy it.

The Story Continues

The past 2 weeks on the restricted diet have been a little tough but not as tough as the first 2 weeks were, adjusting to the restriction of calories to 800 daily takes some getting used to.

I carried on eating konjac products and they have been invaluable. It is unfortunate that some people cannot eat konjac without having digestive issues, thankfully I am okay with it and use it as a very low-calorie way of bulking out my main meal each day. I have also moved on from buying fresh vegetables to buying frozen bulk quantities of vegetables.

A UK-based frozen food shop does an excellent frozen Mediterranean vegetable medley in oil, which contains a good variety of vegetables, the funny thing is I normally don't eat courgette or tomatoes but enjoy them in this.

I have been religiously sticking to my intermittent fast period, I break my fast at midday on the dot, usually using a low calorie, low carbohydrate snack bar, I find if I am out on my morning 4-5 mile walk I can eat it on the hoof. The book suggests that any exercise be done before eating, which I try to do.

I Weigh Myself Once-a-Week now.

I weighed myself this morning, the book suggests weighing yourself each day but I have found when I do this I become fixated on the numbers and have instead moved to once-a-week weigh-ins, on a Wednesday, so it is exactly one week of the 2-12 week diet period finished.

My weight loss to date is 7.3 kg, so in the last 2 weeks, I have lost 3.1 kg, which is slightly less than the initial period. The book has explained this as the initial 2 weeks you lose quite a bit of water weight, whereas now I am losing mainly fat. Which is good and I can see the results just by looking in the mirror.

The Results

My observations in this 2 week period are that I have lost fat in areas of my body where I tend to build it up, mainly my face, which now has a jawline and a defined chin. My waist and abdominal area have slimmed down quite a bit, with my ribs and abdominal muscles actually starting to define a little. (I need to do work on my core area to build up better definition but I hate sit-ups lol).

The icing on the cake though has been that I dug out a pair of 34” waist jeans that I haven't been able to get into for years and they went on like a glove, a little tight to button up but I was able to, normally my waist fluctuates between 36-38” so just being able to fasten this pair of jeans has given me a massive boost to my elated sense of achievement each weigh-in has brought me so far.

Conclusion

So, in conclusion to this blog post, the diet continues, the weight loss continues, my fitness improves and my aches and pains have started to be less and less frequent.

Roll on the next 2 weeks :)

Thanks for reading

Scott
