Fasting till I'm furious- Part 3
Time for the third part of my weight loss journey using the Fast 800 diet by Dr. Michael Mosley. If you haven't read parts 1 and 2 I suggest you give them a skim first. Hope you are enjoying the journey and my thoughts on what I am achieving.
Weeks 5 and 6 of the Journey
Moving into weeks 5 and 6 of the diet I was really energized and focused on keeping on track both with the calorie counting and the exercise I was doing, I am glad to report that I managed to stick to the 800-calorie budget every day apart from one when my sister visited and I had a takeaway burger, I had budgeted for the fact that day that I would be probably eating more than the 800 calories by extending my daily walking routine, I had up to this point on the diet avoided walking more than 4.5 miles each morning, as I found I was exhausted towards the end of the walk.
I was very surprised to find that on that particular day, I managed to walk a staggering 7.5 miles, burning an eye-watering 1200 calories and feeling not one guilty pang when I had a takeaway that evening.
Learning to Watch for Those Extra Calories
Having spent the previous 5 weeks watching, looking, and weighing up the calories of everything I had eaten I found that even when looking at takeaway menus I was very aware of the calories of everything I looked at and decided upon a burger, no vegetables, no sauce to which I added a nice dollop of my 0 calorie skinny barbecue sauce, I have found that the skinny range of 0 calorie sauces has become more and more a Godsend when cooking my meals, I keep buying/looking at the commonly available sauces in the supermarket and balk at the calories they contain, I like Chinese food and the sauces they use are hideous when it comes to calories, even when reduced sugar options are considered they add at least a hundred calories, in some cases nearly double that, to the food I consume.
So, during this 2 week period, I have mainly learned to look at the extra calories I am adding to my food, a lot of the time adding sauce to cooked meals or cooking in these sauces I don't really think twice about them. Now my mindset has changed and I use skinny sauces or at the very least a splash of soy sauce to give me tastier food.
The Results
Time for the results of these two weeks. I weighed myself this morning and my weight loss to date is 11.2Kg which means I have lost 3.9Kg in the past two weeks. I am really happy with this, just looking in the mirror I can see my face becoming slimmer and slimmer. I have also been wearing a pair of jeans that I have not been able to get into for a few years which to me is a good indication of fat loss on my hips and thighs. I don't want to become fixated on just the raw weight loss number so when I can see tangible results through the actual dimensions of my body it makes me even more motivated to carry on with the diet.
Now that I am halfway through the initial 800-calorie intermittent fasting routine, which a few weeks ago seemed like so far away, I even doubted whether or not I would be able to manage to get to 6 weeks, I find I am totally focused on seeing out the full 12 weeks before moving to the 5:2 intermittent fasting regime(5days normal eating 2 days 800 calories).
I keep finding myself calculating how much weight I will, theoretically, lose by the end of week 12, using my current losses as a basis and if I get anywhere near that amount I will be over the moon.
Happy with the Results
Anyway, that's all I have got for this week. Weight is still moving, rapidly, in the right direction and I am excited to keep you up to date on those losses.
Thanks for reading.
